About Laura Barat

Laura Barat has been practicing Vedic Astrology for 16 years. She is a graduate of the American College of Vedic Astrology in Arizona and a member of the American Federation of Astrologers. She is a published author of several articles and her first book, “Predictive Method: Predicting with Grahas as Karakas” is available on this website and on Amazon.

In her practice and teaching, Laura stresses the importance and superiority of Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra and Upadesa Sutras by Sage Jaimini, when it comes to astrological technique and interpretation. These are the grandfathers of Vedic Astrology and their teachings are complete. Most astrological techniques that came after their time, which was pre-B.C., got their information from one of these two sages, mostly from Parasara because Jaimini is written in coded Sanskrit. While some of the medieval texts are useful, Laura’s main interest is the astrological knowledge and techniques contained in Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra and Upadesa Sutras. Most of the articles on this site are written to explain the techniques of these two volumes.

Varshaphal, or the Solar Return Chart, is also a fascinating area of study and was actually developed and perfected by the Tajiks, an ancient Persian people. This type of astrology is called Tajika and is a precursor to Greek and Roman astrology. It utilizes many of the same principles as Western Astrology and is highly accurate. Tajika can also be very adept at finding the exact birth time within seconds.

Thank you for visiting this site and please enjoy the articles about a very mysterious, yet profound science.
